West Sacramento, Yolo County
West Sacramento did not become a city until 1987, when the old river towns of Broderick and Bryte joined with their neighbors. Its port opened in 1963 at the head of a ship channel dug 43 miles to Suisun Bay, and much of the rice grown in the Sacramento Valley is exported from its docks. Warehouses and food plants fill the surrounding district.
